Stuck pixel fixer

A square of rapidly changing colors cycles the pixels under it, which can wake up a pixel that’s frozen on one color.

Flashing light warning

This tool flashes colors many times a second. Don’t use it if you have photosensitive epilepsy or get headaches from flashing light, and don’t stare at the square while it runs.

How to use it

  1. Find the pixel with the dead pixel test and note where it is.
  2. Start the flashing square and drag it over the pixel. Look away while it runs.
  3. Leave it for 10–30 minutes.
  4. Stop it and check the pixel again on black, white and the color it was stuck on.

Will it work?

Stuck pixels: sometimes

A pixel frozen on one color can come back after being flashed through every color for a while.

Dead pixels: no

A pixel that’s black on every color gets no power. Flashing can’t reach it.

Give it 30 minutes

If nothing changes after half an hour, more time rarely helps. Check your warranty instead.

Questions

How long should I run it?

Start with 10 minutes, check the pixel, then try up to 30 minutes. Some people repeat it over a few days.

Can it damage my screen?

No. It only changes pixel colors quickly, which every video does. Like anything left running, it keeps the display on and uses power.

Should I press on the pixel?

We don’t recommend it. Pressing on a panel can damage it and isn’t covered by warranty.
